Easy tips to save energy, and keep money in your pocket!

Compact Florescent Light Bulbs (CFLs):
• Use 75% less energy than a regular light bulb, lasting for up to 7 years
• CFLs are sold in many different wattage, styles and applications to fit a variety of requirements
• CFLs cannot be installed in enclosed fixtures, lights operated by a dimmer switch or motion sensor switch units

Light Emitting Diode:
• Annual cost of $0.16 per unit
• Provide low level lighting in areas that do not require full lighting, including hallways, bathrooms and stairwells
• LEDs are long lasting and cool to touch

Foam Gasket Insulators:
• Install under electrical outlets face plates and plug protectors,on outside walls, to help reduce drafts.

Storm Window Kit:
• Great for reducing air infiltration over older single pane windows

Reduce lighting expenses:
• Turn off lights when they are not needed
• Use compact florescent light bulbs. They use 76% less energy and last up to 10 times longer
• White walls and ceiling reflect 80% of light whereas dark walls and ceilings only reflect 10%

Save electricity:
• Convection ovens with fans that circulate hot air are more energy efficient than regular ovens
• Electrical kettles produce hot water more efficiently than a stove-top kettle
• Refrigerators with side by side doors use the most energy
• Enable the energy-saving features on your home computer equipment
• Make sure monitors and hard drives are shut down after a set period of time
• Use a power bar, so you can turn everything off with one switch
• Lower the thermostat to 15 degrees C when nobody is home
