ACAP Beach Clean Up & Heritage Tours

Presented by ACAP Cape Breton and Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation. Come learn about the history of Cape Breton's shorelines and help restore their natural beauty! The August 4th event will include clean-ups at three beaches and along the Sydney boardwalk (Indian Beach 10:00am-11:30am, Dominion Beach 1:00pm-2:30pm, and Big Glace Bay Beach 3:00pm-4:30pm), along with a booth at the Sydney Waterfront offering education about the ecological impact of marine debris (10:00am-3:00pm). Each clean-up will be kicked-off with a talk about the historical significance and ecology of the beach. 

Participants are welcome to join each event for a grand tour or just a single clean-up. All ages are welcome! Sponsored by the Government of Canada, the Nova Scotia Government, and the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Schedule:
Booth at Sydney Waterfront: 10am to 3pm
Indian beach, North Sydney: 10 to 11:30
Dominion Beach: 1 to 2:30
Big Glace Bay beach clean-up: 3 to 4:30

Participants are welcome to follow along for a grand tour of all three beaches, or just stop by at the beach of their choice. All ages are welcome!

ACAP Cape Breton has a vision for a community in which local people are actively engaged, working and learning together to build healthy and sustainable communities.

 

Established in 1992, the original mission was to develop a comprehensive ecosystem management plan for the watershed area of industrial Cape Breton.

 

ACAP Cape Breton has grown into a dynamic group that integrates environmental, social and economic factors into projects focusing on action, education and ecosystem planning.
