Learn more about our approach to ethical forest restoration
Our tree planting program focuses on healing through habitat creation anchored in the planting of native trees and shrubs that provide resources and refuge to support many species, both human and non-human. Through our restorations work we are able to bring together local communities, and foster a sense of connection to the land.
ACAP’s Forest Restoration program aims to nurture species assemblages that comprise Wabanaki/Acadian forest habitat, promoting resilient landscapes that support diverse values. Forests play a vital role in habitat preservation and overall ecosystem health. ACAP takes an ecological approach to forest restoration by considering soil ecology, succession, biodiversity, and climate change resilience.
All of our trees are planted on Unama’ki / Cape Breton Island, with the right species planted in the right places.
