Bioblitz Project

This Earth Month, join ACAP Cape Breton and the Municipality of the County of Inverness as we monitor invasive species in Inverness County!

Invasive species are becoming more common in our region through transportation (e,g. ship ballast), lack of draining and cleaning (e.g. canoes, life vests), and climate change (e.g. migration of non-native species to our region).

Although some invasive species may look cute, they can harm native plants and animals. Invasives will outcompete native species and can negatively impact local ecosystems. That is why monitoring, control, and education are key actions community members can take to prevent the spread of invasive species.
