Become a member of ACAP Cape Breton!

ACAP Cape Breton is a membership-based organization. Members are entitled to vote at Annual General Meetings, and Special General Meetings as they arise. Members may also stand for election to the Board of Directors. All new memberships are reviewed and approved by the board of directors on a regular basis. We ask returning members to update their contact information through filling out the following form. *There is an annual membership fee of $30. This fee will be waived in all cases where it represents a financial hardship, no questions asked.

Objectives of ACAP Cape Breton

As outlined at the organization's incorporation in 1992, the objectives of ACAP Cape Breton are as follows: A) To address broad environmental issues affecting Cape Breton Island so that a comprehensive environmental action plan can be formulated by means of the following activities: 1. Assessing the environmental quality of the area (including identification of all sources of environmental problems) 2. Developing a long-term vision for the area which will be supported by clear objectives which will be necessary to attain long-term goals. 3. Identifying and assessing any necessary remedial actions and conservation measures. 4. Developing comprehensive environmental management plans. 5. Promoting environmental stewardship through education. B) To conduct fund-raising efforts to further the goals of the Society [ACAP Cape Breton]. C) To acquire by way of grant, gift, purchase, bequest, devise, or otherwise real and personal property and to use and apply such property to the realization of the objects of the Society [ACAP Cape Breton]/ D) To buy, own, hold, lease, mortgage, sell and convey such real and personal property as may be necessary or desirable in the carrying out of the objects of the Society.
