Environmental Education

ACAP Cape Breton delivers environmental education in partnership with schools, community organizations, and municipalities. Our programs prioritize hands on, age-appropriate learning. For more information about what we offer, please read the information below.

  • ACAP Cape Breton has partnered with the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and the Municipality of the County of Inverness to offer school programming in these municipalities. We offer interactive workshop style lessons that typically last 1 hour.

For upper elementary classrooms, we also offer field trips to local wetlands and watersheds in the late spring and fall months. These programs are free for schools but spaces fill up quickly.

To register your interest in any of our school programming, please click on the “School Programs” link at the bottom of the page to learn more and request a visit.

If you are a teacher or administrator working at a school in another location, and you’d really like us to visit your school, please send us an email at info[@]acapcb.ns.ca. We are currently pursuing financial support to be able to serve all schools in Cape Breton.

  • Come learn about the ecosystems in your community through a watershed lens! We host public walks in all seasons, and our walks are family-friendly unless otherwise indicated. Keep an eye on our events page and social media for upcoming walks. To learn more about Source Water and our Watershed Walks, please click on the link at the bottom of the page.

  • We offer environmental activities for children, youth, and adults. If you have a community organization or youth group that is interested in learning more about our programs, please send us an email at education[@]acapcb.ns.ca. We also advertise community events via our monthly newsletter. Enter your email below to subscribe!

  • We host a variety of special events that are open to the public. Please visit our events page to discover what we’re planning next!
